Enactus UKZN was established as the University of KwaZulu-Natal’s chapter of Enactus, a global network of student, academic and business leaders committed to using entrepreneurial action to improve the world.
From a single project team the chapter has grown into a five-campus organisation, with an executive committee, a deputy president on each campus and faculty advisors drawn from across the colleges. Teams compete annually at the Enactus South Africa National Exposition.
The chapter’s remit has stayed constant: identify a real community need in KwaZulu-Natal, build a financially sustainable enterprise around it, and measure what changes as a result.
To equip UKZN students to create and lead enterprises that deliver measurable social, environmental and economic benefit to the communities around them.
A generation of KwaZulu-Natal graduates who leave university having already changed something for the better, and who keep doing it.
We test ideas by trading, not by talking about them.
The need comes from the community; the enterprise is built around it.
If we cannot measure the change, we have not finished the work.
Honest numbers, honest reporting, to partners and to ourselves.
